What is it?


The hospitality job sector covers a wide range of employment. You could be working for an employer who provides hospitality - food, drink and/or accommodation - to customers as:

  • its core business, for example in a hotel, restaurant, café, bed and breakfast (B&B), fast food outlet, bar or pub;
  • or as part of the services the organisation or business provides, for example, in a hospital kitchen, at a school, college or university, in canteens in factories, offices and shops or as part of leisure facilities such as sports centres or theme parks.

So don't just think about hotels and restaurants if you want to work in the industry - hospitality workers can be employed in many places.
