Environmental and Land-based

What is it?


The environmental and land-based sector is about looking after the land, producing food and drinks from the land and animals, or working with plants or animals.

There are three main areas of work:

  • Land management and Production including farming (crops and livestock) horticultural production, forestry and fencing
  • Environmental Industries including environmental conservation, game and wildlife management, fisheries management, horticulture, landscaping and sports turf
  • Animal Health and Welfare including animal care, animal technology, farriery, veterinary nursing and equine work
